About The Position

The LPN/LVN provides nursing care within an assigned unit under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. The role is at LeConte Medical Center, a 79-bed community hospital in Sevier County and part of Covenant Health. This is a full-time, day-shift position scheduled for 72 hours per pay period.

Requirements

Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
No prior LPN/LVN experience is needed.
No minimum education is specified; education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license or certification.

Responsibilities

Initiate the admission database and patient history; collaborate with the RN to implement patient and family teaching and address care needs.
Practice in compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies and procedures.
Perform and prioritize nursing care tasks.
Follow the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration with and under the direction of an RN.
Observe and report nursing interventions and patient responses, documenting them promptly, concisely, and legibly.
Recognize, respond to, and report changes in patient condition to the RN Team Leader.
Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
Apply infection-control principles and collaborate with the infection control nurse to help ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
Assist with orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
Administer IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids according to established hospital protocol.
Perform approved advanced patient-care treatments according to hospital protocol.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required annual education assignments.
Work toward goals and objectives and participate in quality-improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
