The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing age and population-specific standards. The LPN will assess resident status, provide necessary care, recognize and respond to problems and emergent situations, and ensure resident health, comfort, and safety. Responsibilities include contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, documenting interactions and outcomes, and counseling residents and families under direction. The role requires effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers, collaboration within an interdisciplinary team, clear communication, and maintaining confidentiality.
