About The Position

The Barry Robinson Center is a premier behavioral health system dedicated to improving the lives of children since 1933. We offer residential treatment, outpatient services and foster care from our campus in Norfolk, VA. We are a mental and behavioral health facility that provides help to military connected youth. We are seeking a Full-Time LPN to join our nursing team. As part of our nursing staff, you would be a part of a comprehensive and dynamic team of Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, Therapists, Educators, Dieticians, and Residential Staff. All of whom work together to assist our residents and build therapeutic relationships. Our organization offers a work environment in which you can flourish. Duties include assisting with residents' ability to receive ample sleep, including assessing interruptions of sleep related to medical complaints, injuries, or emotional upset. The position must function as a member of the team, providing an optimal treatment environment for residents, nursing department, residential, clinical and educational staff members. Ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and experience within industry and/or with youth.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a LPN in the state of Virginia.
  • Experience with children/adolescents preferred.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with residents' ability to receive ample sleep, including assessing interruptions of sleep related to medical complaints, injuries, or emotional upset.
  • Function as a member of the team, providing an optimal treatment environment for residents, nursing department, residential, clinical and educational staff members.
  • Assess medical complaints/injuries and triage ensuring appropriate interventions.
  • Assess crisis situations such as behavioral and/or medical accurately, seeking assistance to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Function as a member of the team, providing an optimal treatment environment for residents.
  • Accurate medication administration.
  • Ensure completion of charts to support the team.
  • Assure required documentation of all required activities.
