About The Position

USA Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for its hospital setting at Providence, 12th Floor. The LPN assists registered nurses and/or physicians with examinations and procedures, performs routine clinical tasks and tests, maintains patient records and clinical supplies, and supports patient care operations. Employees must hold a regular position working at least 20 hours per week (0.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing that meets the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama.
Hold a State of Alabama Licensed Practical Nurse license upon hire.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days.
Ability to work independently and multitask.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Assist registered nurses and/or physicians with examinations and procedures.
Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
Administer medications and injections according to orders.
Maintain patient records.
Perform routine tests and procedures, including dipstick urinalysis, hematocrits, EKGs, tympanometry, audiometry, inhalation therapy, pregnancy tests, and blood glucose testing.
Maintain inventories of clinical supplies and medications.
Ensure patient examination rooms are ready for use and stocked with supplies and equipment.
Complete telephone callbacks to patients’ parents or guardians.
Call prescriptions in to pharmacies.
Prepare laboratory, X-ray request, and referral forms.
Complete mandatory department, educational, and hospital requirements.
Adhere to current infection-control and safety standards.
Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
Work the defined schedule and overtime as required.
Perform related duties as assigned.
