About The Position

The RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the assisted living facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents. This role involves ensuring competency of the nursing staff, ensuring care plans meet expectations and regulations pertaining to DHS, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. The RN Supervisor will promote a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for both residents and staff. This role will help ensure that residents receive the highest level of quality care in compliance with the State of WI Chapter DHS 89 and DHS 83 regulations as applicable.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing and a valid (current) WI license RN required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous businesslike manner when interacting with outside contacts and other employees.
  • Ability to use good judgment.
  • Ability to organize, solve problems, work as part of a team, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Current, valid state certification as a licensed LPN or RN.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or long-term care experience (or other experience working with the senior population) preferred
  • Familiarity DHS 83 and DHS 89 guidelines preferred
  • Experience in navigating/managing the healthcare continuum: acute care, rehab, skilled nursing, Medicare, Family Care functions, specialty services.
  • Management experience – the ability to help support staff development, monitoring, training, performance improvement, accountability, etc.
  • Understanding of DHS 89 for RCAC programs and DHS 83 for CBRF programs as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and oversee medication records and medication documentation in the MARs
  • Provide regular support to resident care needs, facilitate resident evaluations and care-related follow-up as appropriate.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the pharmacy in regard to new medication orders, change in orders and any medication issues
  • Monitor medication counts for narcotic drug administration
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with staff, families, and residents
  • Contact physicians regarding resident health issues/problems
  • Complete the Physician Form when a resident is scheduled to see his/her M.D.
  • Maintain on going communication with the administrator on all pertinent issues
  • Maintain knowledge of State Regulations and updates (DHS 89 and DHS 83)
  • Assist with providing in-service training for staff on health conditions common to assisted living residents to include ADLs, medical management and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor and delegate related health and safety duties to staff as needed
  • Work closely with the staff in obtaining information related to the health status of the residents
  • Assist with the admission/acceptance decisions for potential residents
  • Provide medication delegation to staff
  • Follow up on falls, incidents, hospitalizations as applicable from a clinical standpoint
  • Follow up with other clinical as needed related to resident care
  • Maintain resident records by collecting and receiving all pertinent and required data
  • Follow up on skin issues or clinical concerns
  • Ensure medication cart audits are completed monthly
  • Conduct regular assessments of residents’ health status.
  • Monitor vital signs and overall well-being, identifying any changes that require intervention.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate services such as medication management, therapy, and specialized care.
  • Oversee nursing staff to ensure adherence to care protocols and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure staff deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Train nursing staff on best practices for resident care, including specific health conditions and safety protocols.
  • Educate residents and families about care plans and health management.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care.
  • Address any concerns or complaints from residents or families promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure that staff are trained in emergency response procedures.
  • Lead efforts during medical emergencies to ensure residents receive immediate care.
  • Advocate for residents’ needs and preferences in care decisions.
  • Ensure residents' rights are respected and upheld.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of residents’ health records, care plans, and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding resident care documentation.
