The LPN will prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting pertinent health information. They will perform laboratory procedures, assist physicians with procedures and surgeries, and administer medications under physician/provider orders. The role involves initiating, maintaining, and discontinuing IV therapy, providing basic patient education, and following through with necessary procedure or test requests. The LPN will also refer questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers, communicate with the healthcare team, and document accurate patient information. Advanced clinical tasks such as suture removal, catheterization, and EKG may be performed. Responsibilities include organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. The LPN will also complete routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment and participate in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles.
