About The Position

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the unit Charge Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing services delivered to all residents of a designated unit for one shift. The Unit Charge Nurse provides direct care, administers medications and treatments, evaluates resident’s medical, physical and mental status, and accurately records the resident’s care and response to their comprehensive care plan. The role involves keeping the physician and family aware of the resident’s condition, organizing and distributing daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with staff competency and each individual resident’s comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care, supervising direct care staff, and making decisions about resident care needs during the shift within the scope of clinical confidence, consistent with facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • No restrictions on license.
  • CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience providing direct care to residents in a long-term care setting.
  • Prior experience as a unit Charge Nurse or similar supervisory experience.
