Requirements

  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with MN State Nursing board privileges.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Applies sound nursing principles and clinical judgment to support residents’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being in accordance with individualized care plans.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence within the full scope of practical nursing, including the ability to assess resident status, perform basic diagnostic testing, administer medications and treatments, and respond effectively to emergent situations.
  • Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents by delivering care consistent with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to resident assessments.
  • Documents care and observations accurately.
  • Maintains thorough communication with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Fosters positive relationships with residents, families, and staff, promoting a supportive and respectful care environment.
  • In collaboration with supervising RN’s, provides resident and family education on health maintenance, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission of quality care and resident well-being.
