Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited, state-approved nursing program with current licensure to practice as an LPN or RN in the State of Indiana.
  • Two years of nursing experience in a long-term care setting preferred, with previous charge or supervisory experience ideal.
  • Strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of aging-related health concerns and senior care needs.
  • Ability to supervise, delegate, and lead effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using clinical technology.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment such as glucometers, oxygen systems, lifts, and catheter care supplies.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of nursing experience in a long-term care setting
  • Previous charge or supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, treatments, and implementing restorative nursing measures.
  • Organizing and managing the medication cart, verifying start/stop dates, and accurately documenting all medication administration.
  • Monitoring resident conditions through daily rounds and maintaining accurate records in resident care plans and charts.
  • Supervising QMAs, CNAs, and students; assigning daily duties based on resident needs and staffing levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with infection control practices and proper use of equipment.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams regarding resident needs, changes in condition, and care plans.
  • Supporting positive resident experiences through professional presentation and respectful, compassionate care.
  • Participating in physician rounds, staff education, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Promoting reality orientation and clear identification of staff roles to residents and visitors.
