About The Position

The Walk-in/First Care Clinic LPN provides timely, patient-centered nursing support for individuals seeking same-day care within Trinity Health’s First Care and Family Medicine clinics. Working under the direction of providers, the clinic nurse manager, and registered nurses, this role assists with rapid patient intake, clinical procedures, point-of-care testing, and coordination of follow-up care. The Walk-in/First Care Clinic LPN supports efficient clinic operations in a fast-paced environment by preparing exam rooms, managing supplies, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation. Through effective communication, collaboration with the care team, and adherence to safety and quality standards, this position helps promote positive patient experiences during both urgent and routine visits.

Requirements

  • Current or temporary LPN license in ND or compact LPN licensure.
  • CPR required within orientation period.
  • Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department required within orientation period.
  • LPN as evidenced by licensure.
  • Computer use
  • Schedule to include weekend and holiday rotation.
  • The LPN frequently stands, walks, bends, and moves quickly between exam rooms in a high volume walk-in clinic environment.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry light to moderate medical supplies, support patient positioning or mobility, and perform fine motor tasks such as injections, wound care, and specimen handling.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and clear verbal communication are essential for safe and efficient patient care.
  • Work occurs in a fast paced walk-in and family medicine clinic with regular exposure to patients experiencing acute illnesses, minor injuries, and varying levels of distress.
  • The role may involve contact with blood, body fluids, and laboratory specimens and requires strict adherence to infection prevention protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Patient volumes may fluctuate significantly, and weekend or holiday work is part of the clinic’s operational schedule.

  • One year or more of LPN experience preferred.
  • Clinic experience preferred.
  • Coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid patient intake including vital signs, chief complaint assessment, health history updates, and preparation for walk-in or urgent evaluations.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments within scope and in accordance with clinic protocols and patient safety guidelines.
  • Conduct point of care testing, collect and package laboratory specimens, and document clinical findings and interventions accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Assist providers with minor procedures, wound care, splinting, respiratory treatments, and other interventions commonly provided in urgent and same day care settings.
  • Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, medication use, selfcare instructions, and follow up recommendations.
  • Maintain organized, clean exam spaces, ensure adequate supply levels, and support clinic flow, including weekend and holiday scheduling rotations.
