Wellstar is seeking an LPN to join their Oncology team. The LPN will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager, functioning within the LPN Scope of Practice. This role involves navigating patient care in collaboration with the provider, managing narcotic inquiries and oral oncolytics, and verbally triaging patient concerns. The LPN will also play a consultative role, providing age-appropriate interventions that meet physical, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs. Responsibilities include coordination and delivery of high-quality care, preparing patients for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and recording treatment in the medical record. The Triage LPN role serves to field patient calls, receive and enter written orders, send refill requests, administer injections, and act as a communication liaison between providers and patients. They will also assist with patient and family education and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continued education. This role may also serve as a preceptor for new LPN colleagues.
