About The Position

Our Surgical Unit is a 32-bed unit that cares for a wide variety of medical-surgical patients. Our primary patient surgery population includes neurosurgeries, general abdominal surgeries, and thyroidectomies. We provide training for general medical-surgical, Telemetry, and Neurosurgery. We work with an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals for complete patient care. Our Surgical Unit has a great teamwork atmosphere and is a wonderful place to work, learn, and grow.

Requirements

Completion of a vocational program for Licensed Practical Nurse
Current Oklahoma State LPN License
Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience
Previous work history reflecting stable employment is necessary
If no work experience, will consider school attendance record and performance
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Responsibilities

Performs duties of a licensed practical nurse as prescribed by the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act
Contributes to the development of a plan of care and follows through with such plan for selected patients
Administers medication with a high degree of safety and accuracy
Documents nursing care and activities
Assists with patient care and monitors patients during procedures
Assists with the departmental assistant with clinical matters
Maintains the exam/treatment rooms and work environment
Assists with the training of other staff
