About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Special Procedures works as part of a collaborative member of the clinical team to manage the care for patients requiring administration of IV therapy, assist with special procedures such as long-acting contraception, radiology and other duties as assigned. This dynamic role provides comprehensive, compassionate care, both in person and telephonically. Responsibilities include infusion services, assistance with special procedures, monitoring registries, telephonic triage, rapid response, management and completion of prior authorizations, and direct clinical care including diagnostic testing. This is a full-time position based at the AvitaCare Atlanta Clinic in Midtown Atlanta, GA (2140 Peachtree Road). The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Georgia
  • Excellent IV skills are essential
  • IV Certification required
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in English, with strong written and documentation skills
  • Strong MS Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for IV insertion, medication preparation and administration, continuous monitoring of infusion patients
  • Provides education for patients, families members or caregivers as needed, including self-administration of antibiotic therapy
  • Inventory management associated with infusion services
  • Maintaining a sterile environment for medication preparation and storage
  • Performs assessments of patient needs and facilitate engagement with ancillary services or other resources
  • Management of daily schedules and monitoring of special populations as assigned to promote adherence to therapy
  • Serves as a resource with other clinical team members in a rapid response
  • Ensures timely, detailed, and accurate documentation within the EMR
  • Responsible for daily patient care, coordinating chronic and acute care
  • Handles administrative duties pertaining to patient care and patient records
  • Performs medical testing: Chest X-rays, DEXA scanning, IRIS Diabetic Eye exams, EKG, Spirometry, Vital Signs, and collection of laboratory specimens as needed
  • Responsible for obtaining prior authorizations as needed
  • Conducts telephonic triage and appropriate routing or management of patient calls
  • Provide assistance to providers for special procedures such as long-acting contraceptive placement, joint injections, incision and drainage, etc.
  • Provides cross coverage for other clinical staff as needed
  • Other clinical duties as assigned
