About The Position

The Staff LPN will work under the direction of the Director of Nurses. This role requires maintaining knowledge of each resident through biosketches and family interviews, and participating in resident care plan meetings. The LPN will be responsible for accepting and verifying resident medications from the pharmacy, verifying physician orders for medications and treatments, and administering medications as ordered. Clarification of physician orders and ensuring all medication documentation is current and correct are key responsibilities. The LPN will also ensure the medication room is fully stocked and secured at all times, following facility policies for medication disposal. Effective communication with resident family members and legal representatives is essential, as is supervising and directing aides.

Requirements

Physical, emotional, & technical abilities to perform duties
Must have LPN license

Responsibilities

Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family interview
Participate in Resident care plan meetings
Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy
Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments
Administer medications per physician's order
Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee
Insure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.
Insure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician
Insure medication room is secured at all times
Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications
Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner
Supervises and gives direction to aides
