About The Position

Responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for patients under the direction of the manager/provider.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current South Carolina license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages (Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, i.e., fire or disaster.
  • Provides communication including answering and transferring telephones, handling orders/messages, and phone triage.
  • Handles physician communication regarding orders and patient issues.
  • Manages patient concerns and treatment.
  • Communicates with staff regarding patient care, referrals, and precertification.
  • Understands and agrees to seek compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Performs scheduling for referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries (Inpatient, Outpatient), and hospital admissions.
  • Manages medical records including documentation, forms, chart maintenance, filing/pulling, image files, faxing, copying, and mail.
  • Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, and results reporting.
  • Manages medication including intravenous infusions, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, oral, topical, suppository, sublingual, and inhalants.
  • Handles medication storage and handling, and ordering/maintaining levels.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms.
  • Conducts patient interviews.
  • Assists patients as needed (Chaperone).
  • Assists with and performs minor procedures.
  • Performs triage (by telephone or in person).
  • Implements physician orders.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Reports results.
  • Performs clinical documentation.
  • Operates and is responsible for equipment, including routine maintenance, ordering of supplies, log sheets, and cleaning.
  • Maintains general office equipment (Fax, copier, etc.).
  • Maintains patient care equipment (BP, Temperature, Scales, etc.).
  • Maintains specialized equipment such as X-Ray, Bone Density, Ultrasound, Treadmill, Laboratory Equipment, Laser Equipment, Defibrillator, Holter Monitors, Cardiac Pacemakers, etc.
  • Participates in in-service/education, including certification/licensure and competency training.
  • Completes department orientation and annual training.
  • Maintains log sheets/audits for samples, pharmacy, Mayday equipment, oxygen, and equipment.
  • Stocks instruments appropriately and maintains levels.
  • Performs cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and usage of instruments.
  • Manages instrument storage.
  • Provides support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
  • Handles precertification/authorization.
  • Performs basic coding for E & M / Basic Visits, Office Procedures/ Complex Visits, Surgeries, and Hospital Services.
  • Handles correspondence, statistical reports, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
