About The Position

The Ortho/Spine unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in orthopedic patients. It is recognized as a center of excellence by the Joint Commission for Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, and Hip Fracture patients. The unit also cares for patients undergoing Total Shoulder and Ankle procedures, as well as other fracture types. Additionally, the unit manages low-level cardiac patients and some med-surg patients.

Requirements

Completion of a vocational program for Licensed Practical Nurse
Current Oklahoma State LPN License
Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience
Previous work history reflecting stable employment is necessary
If no work experience, will consider school attendance record and performance

Responsibilities

Performs duties of a licensed practical nurse as prescribed by the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act.
Contributes to the development of a plan of care and follows through with such plan for selected patients.
Administers medication with a high degree of safety and accuracy.
Documents nursing care and activities.
Assists with patient care and monitors patients during procedures.
Assists with the departmental assistant with clinical matters.
Maintains the exam/treatment rooms and work environment.
Assists with the training of other staff.
