About The Position

This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) at an extended care facility. The role involves managing resident care during a night shift, including staff assignment, communication, problem-solving, resident assessments, medication administration, and documentation. The nurse will also be responsible for monitoring the physical environment, completing occurrence reports, and ensuring resident rights are protected. This is a full-time position with 12-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays.

Requirements

  • Minimum graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Idaho professional LPN license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required within 2 months of hire.

  • Long-term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns staff appropriately for resident care during the shift.
  • Replaces/finds non-scheduled staff when shortages occur.
  • Receives and communicates pertinent shift reports to the oncoming shift regarding resident care and conditions.
  • Promotes positive problem-solving as situations arise with shift personnel.
  • Completes assessments of residents as needed.
  • Prioritizes findings of assessments and initiates appropriate care treatments.
  • Notifies physicians of problems or concerns of residents.
  • Performs procedures and treatments ordered for residents within the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Administers ordered medications and is alert to difficulties, complications and/or side effects.
  • Reports medication findings appropriately.
  • Documents medication given, or if refused, why and responses to medication (PRN).
  • Completes rounds on the unit every two (2) hours and PRN to assess resident care.
  • Appropriately uses equipment such as enteral feeding pumps, SVN equipment, pulse oximeter, glucose monitor systems, nurse call and alarm systems, and suction equipment.
  • Documents problems or concerns of residents in Nurse’s Notes.
  • Documents treatments and assessments of monitored conditions.
  • Documents behaviors and moods in clinical records.
  • Communicates with families of residents regarding treatment plans and status changes.
  • Acts as a liaison between families and physicians.
  • Completes death care for residents.
  • Monitors the physical environment of the department and notifies responsible departments.
  • Completes occurrence reports and implements monitoring of resident conditions as necessary.
  • Disciplines shift personnel as necessary.
  • Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of the facility.
  • Communicates to supervisor any complaints, problems, occurrences, deterioration of resident status or personnel problems in a timely manner.
  • Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect.
  • Responds properly and follows Facilities Plan in an emergency situation and/or disaster.
  • Protects and ensures in actions, communications and in written form all Resident’s Rights.
