About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in Gastroenterology, working day shifts. The LPN will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care under supervision in an outpatient setting. The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide individualized patient care in outpatient settings, collaborating with the health care team. The RN is responsible for care coordination, patient assessment, education, triage, and other nursing interventions, working within the scope of practice and professional conduct standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges (LPN).
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (LPN).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state (RN).
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific licensure, competencies and certifications (RN).

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) (RN).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred (RN).
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (LPN).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician in the outpatient setting (LPN).
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients (RN).
  • Facilitate health care services for patients in outpatient settings in cooperation with the health care team (RN).
  • Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions (RN).
  • Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care (RN).
  • Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting (RN).
  • Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure (RN).
  • Educate and communicate with patients and their families (LPN).
