LPN or Medical Assistant-Meadville Dermatology
About The Position
This role involves providing nursing or medical assistant services to patients and their families, and assisting physicians and mid-level practitioners with patient care. The position requires performing all clinical functions within a physician's office. For Medical Assistants, this includes assisting with treatments, obtaining and processing specimens, maintaining medical records, managing supplies, patient education, taking histories and vitals, triaging calls, handling prescription refills, communicating results, and processing prior authorizations. For LPNs, the role focuses on providing nursing services and assisting providers in conformance with the Licensed Practical Nurse Act.
Requirements
- Graduate of a diploma school of nursing approved by State Board of Nurse Examiners (for LPN).
- Licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Pennsylvania (for LPN).
- Graduate of a medical assistant program with certification (for Medical Assistant).
- Sufficient experience may be substituted for the educational requirement (for Medical Assistant).
- Must possess great attention to detail.
- Must be able to type and be efficient with computers.
- Must be able to accurately type and be efficient with data entry equipment.
- Must have the ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Knowledge of computers is a necessity.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize activities, organize work and problem solve.
- Communications skills both verbal and written must be above average to excellent.
- Must be able to communicate with public sector by telephone use and in person.
- Must be able to deal with anxious and angry people.
- Must be able to communicate with Administrative Staff, Managers, Attorneys, Physicians and all hospital staff with due respect and tact.
- Understanding of confidentiality rules is a must without exception.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing services to patients and families.
- Assists physicians and mid-level practitioners with patient care.

- Assists the physician with treatments.
- Obtains specimens from patients and processes them properly.
- Maintains medical information and filing/scanning.
- Maintains sample supplies.
- Orders and maintains clinical supplies as needed.
- Provides patient education.
- Obtains histories and vitals from patients.
- Triages patient calls.
- Handles prescription refills.
- Makes callbacks for normal or abnormal results as per physician direction.
- Processes prior authorizations as needed.
- Answers telephone and schedules appointments as needed.
