About The Position

This position is for an LPN or Medical Assistant in an ambulatory clinic setting. The role involves providing direct patient care, education, and support under the supervision of a physician or RN designee. Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program (for LPN role)
  • None Required (for LPN role)
  • Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
  • Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, and bending/stooping.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20-50lbs.
  • May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required (for MA role).
  • None required (for MA role).
  • Currently enrolled or have completion of a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and/or hold a current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), the AMT (American Medical Technologists), NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions), the ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants), or the NHA (National Healthcare Association).
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months from the date of hire.
  • The job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs.
  • May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, ongoing education, and reinforcement of care plans.
  • Provide general support in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assist the registered nurse and/or provider through data collection concerning the physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of patients.
  • Organize and prioritize nursing care activities considering the needs of the patients and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient’s needs as directed by the registered nurse/provider.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of care given in progressing patients toward desired outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing education and reinforcement of care plans developed by the Provider/RN based on identified health and education needs and the condition and age of the patient.
  • Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Assume responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assist in assuring effective and efficient clinic operations while maintaining consistent and accurate communication with team members, referring providers, and patients.
  • Complete standardized rooming and perform clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
  • As directed and in accordance with documented competencies, provide clinical support to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered within the patient visit.
  • Perform administrative support responsibilities.
  • Recognize the importance of time sensitive issues.
