About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant to serve in our family practice at our Baxter Clinic in Baxter, Minnesota. This LPN or CMA works 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday with one weekday off. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required. Requirements

  • LPN: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Minnesota upon hire.
  • CMA: Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified within one year of date of hire. Must pass certification within two attempts.
  • BOTH: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.
  • Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
  • Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.
  • Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
  • Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
  • Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.
