The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a variety of patient care activities and assists the provider and nursing staff to maintain the highest standard practice of care in accordance with state licensure regulations. They are responsible for restocking of supplies in the work area and maintaining a safe working environment. The Medical Assistant (MA) role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and preferred certifications include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and BLS Certification. Experience in taking vital signs, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, maintaining quality control standards, reacting calmly in emergencies, clear communication, and basic computer skills are required. The ability to learn and perform diagnostic testing/procedures such as x-rays and non-waived testing is also necessary. For the LPN role, a graduate from an accredited school of practical or vocational nursing program is required, along with current licensure as an LPN in Missouri and current CPR certification. Experience in taking vital signs, history, attention to detail, patient education and instruction, and multi-tasking is needed. The ability to maintain quality control standards, react calmly in emergency situations, communicate clearly, and utilize diagnostic equipment and electronic systems efficiently is also required. LPNs are expected to assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
