About The Position

Under the direction of the physician/provider, provides nursing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This role is responsible for fulfilling patient care responsibilities, performing all nursing duties, documenting interventions, and promoting wellness through patient education. The LPN will also be responsible for maintaining the examination/procedure rooms according to infection control and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • CPR certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills
  • Current state licensure

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Schedules all patients for any surgical procedure requested by the physician/provider.
  • Follows each individual physician schedule.
  • Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients with transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, and assessing patient's general condition.
  • Performs all nursing duties, collecting history, vital signs, and assisting physician(s) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Provides direct patient care as ordered.
  • Obtains prior authorizations and pre-certifications as needed and manages referrals through EMR.
  • Documents all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed and hospital data in the electronic medical record.
  • Responsible for charting patient encounter day of visit to ensure documented, organized and chronological medical record.
  • Labels, documents, and tracks all specimens or tests ordered/received following set standards and reporting all test results to the physician.
  • Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating the physicians' advice and instructions to patients/families.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments, tests or procedures serving as a role model for customer service.
  • Sets up instruments and equipment according to protocol and cleaning exam/procedure rooms between patient visits adhering to infection control/safety guidelines.
  • Follows the office exposure control plans bloodborne and airborne pathogens.

  • Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security.
  • Reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee and operations data.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings and participates in monthly rounding process with manager to assure effective and timely two-way communications.
  • Participates in and completes required department specific education and training programs.
  • Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
