About The Position

The Nurse Supervisor leads and mentors department staff to ensure the consistent delivery of quality care that meets or exceeds federal, state, local, and Company standards as they relate to staff onboarding and training, admissions, clinical documentation, medication administration, care planning, discharges, and other critical functions. Full Time: 8 hour shifts 5 days per week (10:45 pm - 7 am) Part Time: 12 hour shifts 2 days per week (6:45 pm - 7 am)

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing or healthcare management
  • Valid and unencumbered LPN or RN license in the state of Tennessee
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficient technical aptitude with emphasis in MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts
  • At least 2 years of experience in a long-term care environment with supervisory experience preferred
  • Professional interpersonal skills with a wide range of individuals and situations
  • Dedication to leading by example and ability to remain calm and objective when faced with challenging situations
  • Professional written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clinical information effectively to non-clinical stakeholders
  • High math aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate resident and patient information in the clinical system of record to include new admission notes, daily skill notes, care plan details, points of care, physician orders, medication orders, scheduled assessments, leaves of absences, discharges, etc.
  • Conducts daily rounds on residents and ensures follow-up on family concerns, medication administration issues, physician visits, outstanding orders, etc.
  • Reviews the 24-hour Nursing Report for accuracy and completeness with respect to new admissions, new orders, changes in condition or behavior, discharges, suspected or confirmed wounds or infections, etc.
  • Directly supervises and leads the work of assigned team members to include interviewing, selection, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, etc., and ensures completion of assigned orientation materials and required education, in-services, and other training.
  • Ensures the clinical system of record is consistently and effectively utilized on a daily basis and serves an internal resource for team member training and questions.
  • Observes medication passes on a regular cadence, monitors call light response times, conducts chart reviews to check team members’ work and documentation for accuracy and completeness, privately reviews incomplete or inaccurate work with individual team members as needed and escalates on-going performance concerns where appropriate.
  • Manages and directs the Restorative Program and Bowel and Bladder Program to ensure appropriate care is delivered and accurate documentation is present.
  • Provides written reports to the Director of Nursing on chart reviews for documentation and assessments, family or resident issues, employee issues, medication errors or other observations, incidents, critical events, negative outcomes, etc. at end of each shift worked.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for staff questions regarding confidentiality of all non-public information, HIPAA requirements, interpretation of regulations, etc., and resolves issues in a calm, professional, consistent and fair manner as they arise.
  • Champions continuous improvement by implementing process changes as approved, clearly communicating changes and expectations to appropriate parties, and monitoring for adaptation to change while coaching others to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Manages programing needs in the clinical system of record as requested
  • Maintains proficient working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies and procedures and assists in developing and delivering in-service trainings to team members as needed.
  • Promotes Quality Assessment Performance Improvement and participates in performance improvement projects as requested.
  • Assists with answering call lights, administering medication, feeding residents, etc., as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
