Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Educational Program
  • 1 year clinical experience preferred.
  • For OB/GYN department: 2 years clinical OB/GYN experience required
  • Completion of accredited program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
  • Current LPN license, ongoing and current BLS.
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
  • Assists with lifting and moving patients.
  • Lifts supplies/equipment.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility.
  • Routine exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
  • May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Licensed Practical Nurses work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness.
  • They are advocates and health educators for patients, families, and communities.
  • When providing direct patient care, they record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments and examinations; administer medications; and assist in convalescence and rehabilitation.
  • Quality, age specific, and culturally sensitive care is provided by the Licensed Practical Nurse who implements interventions to ensure that patient/family needs are addressed including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
