About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a Nephrology Clinic. The role involves managing patient care, performing health assessments, administering treatments, and maintaining clinic operations. The LPN will be responsible for receiving patients, determining their needs, and directing them accordingly, while providing optimal ambulatory health care. This includes stocking and maintaining exam rooms and nurse’s stations.

  • Vocational/Technical degree
  • Louisiana Licensed Practical Nurse required
  • CPR required

Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
  • Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
  • Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
  • Provides routine care for patients.
  • Observes patients’ health.
  • Patient education.
  • Reviews medical charts.
  • Communicates with patients and their families.
  • Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG.
  • Performs in office testing such as HgA1c, Flu, Strep, Lipids, Glucose, and Urinalysis.
  • Performs Venipuncture.
  • Prepares specimens for lab courier.
  • Administers medications.
  • Provides wound care.
  • Prepares and administers injections.
  • Handles electronic scripts.
  • Assists with patient comfort.
  • Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
  • Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders and medications refills to pharmacy and progress notes to insurance for prior authorizations.
  • Schedules procedures/imaging; verifying times with patients; and preparing charts and pre-admission and consent forms.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, letting manager know when low, and verifying receipt.
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Assists MD with procedures and COVID screenings.
  • Answers phone and returns calls in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other services/duties deemed reasonable by physician or Manager.
