About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct nursing care to residents under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Director of Nursing Services (DNS). The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers nursing care in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The LPN supports resident safety, comfort, dignity, and quality of life while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and effective communication with the interdisciplinary care team. Requirements

  • Must possess a valid and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Florida.
  • Must possess a CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, medical procedures, and applicable laws and regulations related to longterm care.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in a hospital, longterm care, memory care, or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders, established nursing practices, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document administration accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations, concerns, or changes to the RN or Director of Nursing.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and updating of resident care plans by providing input related to resident conditions and response to care.
  • Perform routine nursing procedures, including wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility charting standards.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to ensure resident care needs are met safely and appropriately.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges by completing required assessments, documentation, and communication.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Support resident rights and promote dignity, privacy, and respect in all aspects of care delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supplies and equipment on the unit and report shortages or concerns to the RN or supervisor.
  • Participate in required training, inservice education, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
