About The Position
This position is in the MedSurg, 3 South Medical department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The role involves providing care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of the LPN license. Responsibilities include contributing to patient assessments, administering medications, observing for adverse reactions, performing laboratory tests and therapeutic services, and educating patients and families about their treatment plans and self-care post-discharge.
Requirements
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent required.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
- Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
