About The Position

Ahuja 7th floor is a 36 bed medical/surgical unit. We specialize in the post op care of patients following orthopedic, colorectal, gyn, general surgery, ENT, neuro and vascular procedures. We work closely with Nurse practitioners, residents, orthopedic coordinators, and attending physicians/surgeons. Our patients range from 15 years old to 100+. The unit is staffed by a Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, RN’s, LPN’s, PCNA’s, patient experience liaisons, and clerical Associates. We are DNV certified for our hip/knee and spine programs. Common Diagnoses include Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee replacement, Total Shoulder replacement, Spinal Laminectomy /fusions, Bowel resections, Colectomies, Thyroidectomies, Mastectomies, as well as emergent surgical needs such as fractures, appendicitis and cholecystitis. The role provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process to assist them in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Completion of accredited practical nurse program or currently enrolled in a nursing program.
  • 2+ years Nursing Experience (Level II only)
  • Knowledge of LPN scope of practice according to the Ohio board of nursing.
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices).
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Level II Only: 18 CNE's per year. • 3 CNE’s in clinical specialty • At least 5 CNE’s in Leadership • Other CNE requirements will be agreed upon with manager
  • Level II Only: • 3 Peer Reviews. • Committee Involvement. • 5 criteria with evidence of each.
