About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Med/Surg Renal and Urology units at Martin Health North Hospital in Stuart, Florida. Martin North Hospital is a state-of-the-art medical campus with diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery, and a 24-hour emergency department, and is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. The 44-bed Med/Surg and Urology Units on the 4th floor provide specialized care for patients with kidney disease, high blood pressure, and related issues, with 18 beds in the Renal Unit and 26 in the Urology Unit. The LPN will utilize their expertise to assist with timely, effective, and efficient patient care, including gathering information for the nursing process, administering medications, documenting treatments, managing equipment, ensuring patient safety, and monitoring vital signs. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in patients' lives while leveraging Cleveland Clinic's extensive professional and educational resources. The position operates on a day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, including every other weekend.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
  • Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • IV Therapy Certificate within three months of hire
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Knowledge of quality improvement practices

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in an acute care setting OR three years of long-term care experience

Responsibilities

  • Involve patient/family in the development of care plan
  • Prioritize and perform direct care to patients according to policy
  • Explain and document procedures and interventions
  • Identify and perform appropriately in emergent situations
  • Assist multidisciplinary team with all processes related to patient care
  • Delegate responsibilities to staff based on patient needs and staff competencies
  • Utilize and document patient safety restraints per hospital policy
  • Perform all IV skills including starts according to unit policy
  • Document medications on medication administration record (MAR)
  • Monitor patient's response to medications and reports appropriately
  • Report medication errors and adverse reactions per hospital policy
  • Demonstrate knowledge concerning medications, including side effects
  • Monitor blood and blood products
  • Develop plan based on educational assessment
  • Provide patients with discharge instructions/education and facilitate a safe discharge
