About The Position

Raleigh General Hospital is seeking an LPN/LVN for their Neuro unit. This is a full-time, night shift position located in Beckley, WV. As part of Lifepoint Health, Raleigh General Hospital is committed to making communities healthier. This role involves contributing to patient care under the direction of an RN, including data collection, specimen collection, wound care, and potentially administering medication. The position also includes documenting patient care, assisting with the plan of care, supporting patients with daily living activities, monitoring patient status, and acting as an advocate for patients. Additionally, the role involves scheduling appointments and procedures, obtaining insurance re-authorizations, assisting with staff orientation, and participating in meetings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
  • Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of VA and be in good stnding wiht the Board of health Professions
  • BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
  • May administer medication.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Assists RN with development of plan of care.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
  • Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
  • Decision recommendations for staffing overtime and low census to be communicated to manager for final approvals.
  • Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
  • Participates and attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
