The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves travel to support multiple locations within a 75-mile radius of the permanent address. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles, practices within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizes age and population-specific standards. They can evaluate resident status, recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations. The LPN ensures resident health, comfort, and safety, contributes to resident assessments, administers medications and treatments, and provides technical support. Documentation of resident interactions and outcomes is essential. The role requires effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Communication and confidentiality are key. The LPN also counsels residents and families on prevention and treatment plans and develops self-care programs. Other related duties may be assigned.
