The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, competency within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards. The LPN will perform testing to evaluate resident status, recognize and respond to problems, and assist in emergent situations. Key responsibilities include ensuring resident health, comfort, and safety, contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, documenting resident interactions and outcomes, and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public. The LPN will also work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team, communicate clearly, maintain confidentiality, and counsel residents and families on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a supervisor. Knowledge of resident education principles to develop self-care programs is also required. Other related duties as assigned.
