About The Position

This role is for a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The primary focus is on supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing lab results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The position operates under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment is expected, along with supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, acceptance requirements, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including following standing orders and coordinating transport to emergency care facilities.
• Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety/eligibility.
• Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
• Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
