About The Position

This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA, working full time, nights 7pm-7am with every other weekend and rotating holidays. The LPN Inpatient provides practical nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, supporting patient care delivery, treatment implementation, and care coordination. Collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care across the inpatient setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
  • None
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • De-escalation training required within 4 months of hire for Psychiatry and Behavioral Health roles and must be maintained thereafter.
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
  • Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
  • Must be able to meet essential job functions.
  • Additional experience or certifications may be required based on service line.

Responsibilities

  • Provides practical nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Participates in the nursing process, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of individualized interdisciplinary plans of care.
  • Identifies patient, family, and caregiver educational needs and incorporates education into the plan of care.
  • Implements prescribed treatments and therapeutic interventions.
  • Administers medications in accordance with provider orders and scope of practice.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development to deliver age-appropriate care.
  • Advocates for patients and supports their rights, providing psychological, social, and cultural support.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Supports performance improvement initiatives and contributes to quality outcomes.
  • Participates in orientation and development of new staff.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to service excellence.
  • Supports organizational mission, vision, and values and complies with all policies and procedures.
