About The Position

The Preoperative Assessment Clinic (PAC) within Perioperative Services supports patients scheduled for surgical and procedural care across multiple MUSC Health locations. This position is focused on execution, accuracy, and proactive communication and plays a critical role in supporting smooth day-of-surgery operations.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with six months of patient care experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of clinic leadership and within the LPN scope of practice, the Arrival Call LPN performs standardized preoperative arrival calls to patients scheduled for surgery.
  • This role ensures patients understand when and where to arrive, what to expect on the day of surgery, and whether all required preoperative steps have been completed.
  • The Arrival Call LPN functions within clearly defined workflows and escalation pathways, supporting surgical and anesthesia teams by identifying issues early and helping prevent avoidable day-of-surgery disruptions.
