About The Position

This position involves floating between various departments, gaining experience in diverse areas of expertise in the Bemidji area. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The role ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients, documents thorough medical histories, contributes to patient assessments, and administers medications or treatments as ordered. The LPN provides technical support to healthcare professionals, counsels patients and families on prevention and treatment plans, and demonstrates competency within the full scope of nursing expertise. In applicable departments, responsibilities may include patient scheduling, insurance and guarantor validation, verification of demographic information, coordinating provider schedules, and managing daily scheduling adjustments.

Requirements

Must have graduated from a school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.
Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.

Associate's degree in practical nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Ensure the health, comfort and safety of patients.
Document a thorough medical history from patient.
Contribute to the assessment of patients and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
Counsel patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilize appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
In departments where applicable, responsibilities may include patient scheduling, insurance and guarantor validation, and verification of demographic information.
Additional tasks may involve coordinating provider schedules across multiple locations and managing daily scheduling adjustments.
