About The Position

Rivers Health is seeking a CMA/LPN for the Bend Area Clinic to perform general nursing duties, promote wellness through patient education, handle critical lab values, schedule referrals, assist with medical procedures, answer phones, schedule patients, send prescriptions, and call patients with test results. The role also involves assisting physicians with patient care and examinations, maintaining exam rooms, ensuring safety and infection control, performing routine laboratory procedures, maintaining equipment and supplies, triaging patient care issues, adhering to corporate policies, demonstrating professionalism and accountability, promoting a positive image, maintaining high standards for quality and productivity, following standards of conduct and applicable laws, treating patients and coworkers with courtesy and respect, identifying and meeting customer expectations, maintaining ethics, integrity, and confidentiality, and assuming other duties as necessary, including covering for absent coworkers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing for Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Certified Medical Assistant Program.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing coordinate, motivate and collaborate with others.
  • Must be able to effectively recognize the unique needs of patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents and geriatrics.
  • Must be able to prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Must be able to judge and problem solve based on situational assessment.
  • Must possess good inductive and deductive reasoning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience preferred in a provider office or hospital related area working with direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general nursing duties.
  • Assess patients’ general condition and take vital signs and history.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Document all activities, interventions and medications in the patient record.
  • Obtain pre-certifications, pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance companies.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice and instructions.
  • Handle critical lab values and promptly seek physician orders.
  • Schedule outside referrals.
  • Assist with Medical procedures.
  • Answer telephone.
  • Schedule patients for office visits and/or hospital tests.
  • Send prescriptions into pharmacy.
  • Call patients with test results.
  • Assist the physicians in the treatment and care of the patients in the office.
  • Maintain exam rooms and other patient areas for the physician to examine the patients.
  • Ensure safety, infection control and other policies and procedures are followed in the office.
  • Perform routine office laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
  • Answer phones.
  • Triage telephone patient care issues directly to clinic provider.
  • Adhere to Corporate Policies, JCAHO, Rural Health, Departmental Policies and Procedures, and Personnel Employee Handbook.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and accountability.
  • Promote a positive image of the physician practice to patients and the public.
  • Demonstrate and promote high standards for quality and productivity; focus on results.
  • Follow standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and reports violations through appropriate chain of command.
  • Treat patients, physicians and coworkers with courtesy and respect.
  • Identify customer expectations and work to meet and exceed them.
  • Maintain a high degree of ethics, integrity, confidentiality.
  • Assume other duties as necessary to support the efforts of the hospital.
  • Fill in during co-workers absence.
  • Cover other nursing personnel when they are not here and complete full range of duties.
  • Cover other areas as needed.
