About The Position

This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Medical Assistant (MA) at the Sidney Clinic, working part-time. The role involves utilizing the nursing process to provide patient care, collaborating with healthcare providers, performing emergency treatments, maintaining documentation, communicating effectively, and promoting patient and staff safety.

Requirements

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) scope of practice.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant (MA) qualifications.
Ability to perform complete admission evaluations.
Proficiency in comprehensive nursing assessments.
Skill in conducting full body system analysis.
Ability to administer nursing assessments in accordance with applicable patient type.
Capability to review, discuss, and implement health care provider orders.
Ability to respond to patient needs in a timely fashion.
Skill in recognizing abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, establishing priorities, and taking appropriate action.
Ability to serve as a patient advocate.
Proficiency in performing patient rounding.
Ability to evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge.
Demonstrates personal accountability in the delivery of patient care.
Ability to provide intravenous interventions within the scope of practice for LPN-C.
Ability to collaborate with health care providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
Ability to work effectively with ancillary areas as part of the team approach to patient care.
Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in the provision of patient care.
Ability to inform and involve Nurse Manager regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
Ability to complete patient and family education.
Ability to perform emergency treatment as required.
Skill in initiating or assisting in patient care in an effective and responsive manner.
Ability to triage emergency situations appropriately and involve other resources as appropriate.
Ability to administer and perform emergent care in accordance with applicable patient population type (newborn to geriatrics).
Ability to follow emergency policies, procedures, and protocols.
Proficiency in documenting accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members.
Ability to identify and recognize abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, established priorities, and take appropriate action.
Ability to appropriately report condition changes to medical provider.
Ability to promote and ensure patient and staff safety.
Ability to administer medications, treatments, and procedures in a timely and safe manner.
Proficiency in performing standard precautions, using two patient identifiers, and performing patient risk assessments.
Skill in utilizing proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques.
Ability to implement infectious disease controls, including isolation procedures, proper use of hand hygiene and gloves.
Ability to follow proper procedures for disposal of sharps and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care according to the LPN scope of practice.
Performs complete admission evaluations and comprehensive nursing assessments.
Conducts full body system analysis and administers nursing assessments in accordance with applicable patient type.
Reviews, discusses, and implements health care provider orders, taking appropriate action if questions arise.
Responds to patient needs in a timely fashion and recognizes abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, establishing priorities and taking appropriate action.
Serves as a patient advocate and performs patient rounding.
Evaluates patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge.
Demonstrates personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner.
Provides intravenous interventions within the scope of practice for LPN-C.
Collaborates with health care providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
Works effectively with ancillary areas as part of the team approach to patient care.
Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in the provision of patient care.
Informs and involves Nurse Manager regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
Completes patient and family education throughout the patient’s visit.
Performs emergency treatment as required in accordance with LPN scope of practice.
Initiates or assists in patient care in an effective and responsive manner as each situation requires.
Triages each emergency situation appropriately and involves other resources as appropriate.
Administers and performs emergent care in accordance with the applicable patient population type, which may range from newborn to geriatrics.
Follows emergency policies, procedures, and protocols in an effective manner.
Performs and maintains documentation, including accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status that reflect nursing interventions, patient responses, patient teaching, and status of outcomes at end of appointment.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, patient satisfaction needs, and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.
Identifies and recognizes abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, established priorities, and takes appropriate action.
Appropriately reports condition changes to medical provider.
Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
Administers medications, treatments, and procedures in a timely and safe manner according to health care provider orders and nursing policy, including appropriate performance of standard precautions, using two patient identifiers, and performing patient risk assessments every shift.
Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.
Implements infectious disease controls as appropriate, including isolation procedures, proper use of hand hygiene and gloves.
