About The Position

St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Amsterdam Family Practice clinic. This position contributes to patient assessment and well-being, administers medications, performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services, and educates patients and families about their treatment plans, self-care, and available resources. The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a potentially stressful environment. Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while using critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.
  • Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the assessment of patients and assures the well-being of patients.
  • Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
  • Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
