About The Position

As the Centralized Scheduler Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you provide clinical oversight to the Central Scheduling Team to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. You practice within the full scope of your licensure while supporting continuity, safety, and quality of care for patients and their families. You identify situations that require clinical judgment or decision making and appropriately escalate these concerns to leadership or the clinician. Through your guidance, you help foster a patient centered scheduling process that promotes efficiency, accuracy, and overall well being. Requirements

  • Graduate from a state-approved school of practical nursing
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Proven ability to use all electronic tools and applications relevant to the performance of the duties of the position, including but not limited to phone, keyboard, computer and computer applications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ambulatory care, specialty care, or infusion services is preferred.
  • 1+ years of nursing experience
  • Experience with an electronic medical records system
  • Infusion and scheduling experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight to the Central Scheduling Team to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Practice within the full scope of licensure while supporting continuity, safety, and quality of care for patients and their families.
  • Identify situations that require clinical judgment or decision making and appropriately escalate these concerns to leadership or the clinician.
  • Foster a patient centered scheduling process that promotes efficiency, accuracy, and overall well being.
  • Interpret clinical documentation to ensure appropriate scheduling and patient readiness.
  • Coordinate complex, multi step appointments (infusion chair time, nursing coverage, pre infusion labs).
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare team.
  • Communicate any pertinent information to the relevant members of the health care team verbally and/or through medical record.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Under established protocols or under specific clinician direction, communicate with patients or family regarding specific test results or follow-up plans.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts, clinical concerns, or missing prerequisites.
  • Exercise sound judgment in escalating clinical questions to appropriate providers.
  • Work independently while maintaining alignment with clinical protocols.
  • Participate in organizational and departmental process improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
