About The Position

The LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in Assisted Living, working on a PRN (as needed) basis, must possess the necessary physical, emotional, and technical skills to effectively manage resident medications and provide direction to aides. This role involves working under the supervision of the Director of Nurses and ensuring all medication-related tasks are performed accurately and in compliance with physician orders and facility policies.

Requirements

  • Must have the physical, emotional, & technical abilities to perform job duties.
  • Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Responsibilities

  • Accept and verify resident medications delivered from the pharmacy.
  • Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments.
  • Administer medications per physician's order.
  • Clarify physician orders as needed by contacting the physician or their designee.
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, and changes in dosages.
  • Ensure the medication room is fully stocked with all required medications (continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, etc.) as ordered by the physician.
  • Ensure the medication room is secured at all times.
  • Follow facility policies regarding the disposal of medications.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with resident family members and other legal representatives as needed.
  • Supervise and direct aides.
