About The Position

TJ Maxx is offering a Summer Internship opportunity within its Loss Prevention department. This internship provides a chance to make a significant impact on store operations and the company's bottom line. Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of retail operations and the critical role of Loss Prevention in areas such as safety, theft and fraud resolution, change management, and profit maximization. The program includes robust training, leadership development, classroom learning, on-the-job training, and mentorship. Interns will gain exposure to Field Loss Prevention, including District Field Loss Prevention, Loss Prevention Training, Centralized Internal Investigations (CII), and the National Task Force (NTF).

Requirements

  • Rising Juniors and Seniors currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program.
  • Business Management, Business Intelligence, Communications, Criminal Justice or related major (other majors may be considered).
  • Genuine interest in a long-term Loss Prevention career at TJX.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Office Suite).
  • Strong analytical thinking and sophisticated problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communicators who work well in teams.
  • Confidence and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • An entrepreneurial drive, work ethic, and business acumen.
  • Ability to have direct, candid, and productive conversations around performance.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • A variable work schedule is part of the role and based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about retail operations from the inside out and gain a thorough understanding of why Loss Prevention is critical to every area of the business.
  • Gain an introduction to retail Loss Prevention.
  • Learn how Loss Prevention maximizes innovative technology to protect Associates and assets.
  • Participate in the management of critical projects.
  • Learn from and collaborate with Loss Prevention leaders.
  • Learn how retail operations and distribution centers operate.
  • Deliver a final presentation to the executive leadership team members.
  • Gain exposure and experience in Field Loss Prevention areas: District Field Loss Prevention, Loss Prevention Training, Centralized Internal Investigations (CII), and National Task Force (NTF).
  • Participate in protecting the stores’ merchandise and assets from internal and external theft through on-the-job experience.
  • Identify and resolve shrink (loss) exposures and opportunities through effective partnerships and analyzing data.
  • Attend Operations and Loss Prevention store market visits.
  • Experience how each area of field Loss Prevention leverages partnerships and networking to achieve goals.
  • Learn how field Loss Prevention Managers effectively coach, train, and develop members of their team.
  • Participate in the delivery of technical training to Loss Prevention Associates in various positions across the organization, with an emphasis on onboarding and continued professional development.
  • Participate in aspects of open internal investigations.
  • Participate in aspects of open external theft cases.
