About The Position

The Lower School Art TA works with grades K-5, collaborating closely with the Art Teacher and fifth-grade Teachers. This role is responsible for supporting teaching and learning in the Art program, assisting students' academic, social, and emotional needs, and maintaining a positive and organized teaching and learning environment. TAs are key members of our Staffulty Team, participating in school community life and modeling the school's mission and core values. TAs also work closely with other Staffulty members and other TAs to support and supervise students as they transition between classes and activities, during recess and lunch periods, and at other academic and non-academic times. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior experience working with school aged children (K-5 preferred) in a school or camp setting
  • A background or demonstrable interest in art or creative activities
  • Warm, patient, and supportive demeanor—a love of elementary school students is a must
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to take initiative
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Calendar, Google Docs) and adept computer skills
  • Ability to work on campus weekdays 7:30 AM - 3:45 PM

Nice To Haves

  • College courses in child/developmental psychology or related coursework
  • Hebrew reading, speaking and writing skills are beneficial, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Art Program by preparing and organizing art materials and supplies, including setup and cleanup for projects
  • Help students during art lessons by providing guidance, encouragement, and individual support
  • Maintain a clean and organized art room environment
  • Create and hang student art displays around the school
  • Support fifth-grade teachers in the classroom during morning hours with curriculum, instruction, and classroom management
  • Work with small groups of students to support their academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Support positive student behavior and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment, implementing practices such as RULER and Responsive Classroom
  • Support online learning platforms (Zoom, SeeSaw) as needed
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, transitions between classes/activities, and other specified non-teaching times
  • Collaborate with Staffulty to ensure smooth classroom routines
  • Demonstrate professionalism, including discretion, judgment, and integrity, and engage positively with colleagues, students, and families
  • Attend and participate in services, faculty in-service meetings, student assemblies, and other school functions
  • Execute the monthly installation and removal of campus-wide student art displays
  • Assist with other classroom or school-related tasks as needed, as directed by the Director of Student Life & Experiential Learning and/or Head of School
