About The Position

Global Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and creative Lower-Level ELA Teacher for Grades 3-5. This is a ten (10) month, salaried position within a culturally rich environment that redefines public education by viewing the world as a classroom. GLA scholars travel extensively, and the school is committed to closing the achievement gap through exposure, access, and opportunity. The school design centers children as world travelers and change agents, delivering rigorous instruction that empowers scholars to own their learning and compete on a global stage. The teacher will be responsible for providing direct instruction, developing lesson plans and curriculum materials, and demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

  • Work with students in small groups and large groups
  • Collaborates daily in regards to student progress
  • Acts as a resource person to teachers, scholars and parents
  • Consults with school administrators, parents and other interested parties in the development and implementation of individual scholar plans
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Identifying the educational needs of scholars and altering instruction to meet student needs
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement
  • Employ strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children
  • Administer standardized ability and achievement tests, and interpret results to determine students' strengths and areas of need
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO, Principal, or Special Education Director
