About The Position

KIPP Columbus is seeking a dedicated educator for a Lower Elementary School Teacher (K-1) role for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a proactive approach to building a pipeline of talented educators for future teaching opportunities. The role involves crafting and implementing lesson plans, reviewing student data, developing individualized learning plans, and collaborating with teams to promote critical thinking and academic rigor. Building a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging is crucial. The teacher will implement school-wide and classroom management policies, create a responsive environment for families, and establish trusting relationships with students and families. Responsibilities also include attending staff meetings, professional development, team meetings, participating in daily school functions like supervision, and embracing feedback for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Current Ohio Teaching License or willingness and ability to pursue certification by start date Required
  • 1 or more years of lead teaching experience, or has a degree in education Required
  • Belief that outstanding school leaders, staff, and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students.
  • Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
  • Willingness, and commitment, to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Craft, internalize, and implement high-quality, challenging, and engaging lesson plans using provided curriculum resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Review student data individually and with department or grade-level teams to plan for re-teaching and follow-up lessons.
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
  • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all students.
  • Implement the school-wide and classroom management policies and practices.
  • Create a responsive and inclusive environment for parents and families.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties.
