About The Position

LINX is hiring Low Voltage Technicians in the Salt Lake City, UT area to install, terminate, and test structured cabling on commercial construction projects. The work involves various environments such as corporate offices, hospitals, K-12 and higher education campuses, small data centers, and other commercial or industrial settings, ensuring a varied workload and transferable skill development. There is a clear career progression path from Technician I through Technician III and beyond.

Requirements

• Able to work on ladders and use power tools; able to lift, carry, and set up a 50-pound box or ladder.
• Must own low voltage hand tools (snips, strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches).
• Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, overtime, and under deadline pressure.
• Must pass a 7-year criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
• Professional working proficiency in English, written and verbal.
• 1+ year of commercial low voltage installation experience (for Technician II).
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable, and "work a 90" proficiently with limited supervision (for Technician II).
• Able to install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cable proficiently (for Technician II).
• Able to build out MDF and IDF closets, including racks, patch panels, wire management, and network hardware with limited supervision (for Technician II).
• 2+ years of commercial low voltage installation experience (for Technician III).
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable, and "work a 90" proficiently with no supervision (for Technician III).
• Able to install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cable with no supervision (for Technician III).

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cable runs.
• Pull, suspend, fireproof, terminate, and test cable in accordance with BICSI standards, NEC, and local code.
• Build and maintain MDFs and IDFs, including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware.
• Troubleshoot low voltage cable systems and correct installation issues as they surface.
• Document every installation for compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Deliver organized, professional workmanship that meets spec on every run.
• Communicate directly and professionally with site contacts to resolve technical issues and provide solutions.
• Travel to job sites within your home state as assigned, with occasional travel elsewhere in the country when project needs require it.
