About The Position

Laketown Electric is seeking a Lead Power-Limited Technician to manage medium to large commercial low-voltage projects from start to finish. This on-site role involves site pre-install walkthroughs, reading and labeling blueprints, installing cable pathways, and installing CAT6/6A, coax, and fiber systems. Responsibilities also include building out telecommunication rooms, troubleshooting existing systems, and managing lighting controls. The ideal candidate will be able to manage projects independently, ensure quality work, and mentor apprentices. This is a Monday-Friday position with hours potentially varying based on jobsite needs.

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of low voltage experience installing cat6 and fiber optic systems in a commercial environment.
  • PLT license (required).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Installation neatly and efficiently.
  • Interface with Clients, GCs, and project IT coordination.
  • 100% self-motivated.
  • Read through specifications on each site to adhere to contract documents while keeping installs up to code.
  • Assume authority and responsibility for apprentices working under you.
  • Keep up with project schedules and timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • BICSI INST1, INSTC, INSTF (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test and troubleshooting Cat6/6a, and fiber optics.
  • Install lighting controls, structured cabling systems, Paging systems, and camera systems.
  • Read/interpret large building blueprints and make changes when necessary.
  • Label and certify installed systems for easy identification per provided plans.
  • Build out new closets including cabinets, racks, ladder rack, and neatly install cabling systems.
  • Start and finish small to medium scale commercial buildings as a job lead.
  • Mentor and train apprentices on the job as necessary.
  • Walkthrough site with PM to determine best cabling routes and project needs.
  • Install according to specifications and plans.
  • Maintain the project schedule and stay on or under budget.
