About The Position

Physically install category structured cabling distribution systems per design interpretations or engineered designed drawings. This includes the installation of telecommunication outlets, cables, fire stopping, and supports. The role involves installing, terminating, and certifying both multi-mode and single-mode fiber. The technician will install, identify, and terminate various types of cable and wire in various locations, including coax, data, power cables, and grounding systems, while understanding industry standard color codes. The position also includes performing new and retro-fit Commercial Data, Voice, Fiber Optic, and Paging cabling installations. A strong working knowledge of TIA and BICSI Standards, including installation, troubleshooting, and service, is essential.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.
  • BICSI TECH certification.
  • 4+ years or equivalent experience with Low Voltage Systems Structured Cabling.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient with the proper use of trade hand and power tools.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, submittments, and operational/product manuals.
  • Ability to install, test, modify, and repair a wide range of support equipment.
  • Adept at using test equipment in the testing and troubleshooting of data circuits and fiber optic cabling.
  • Proficient with the installation components within Telecommunications Equipment Rooms.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of fiber-optic, coax and network cable, and telecommunications/electronic installation procedures.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
