About The Position

Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group is seeking a Low Voltage Estimator. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for low-voltage construction projects, including structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, audio-visual systems, wireless networks, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and related technology infrastructure. The Estimator analyzes drawings and specifications, performs quantity takeoffs, solicits vendor and subcontractor pricing, and develops comprehensive proposals that support successful project acquisition and execution. This role will operate out of our New York city office in Manhattan.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in low-voltage, electrical, or technology construction.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling, access control, IP Video surveillance, intrusion detection, networking, AV, and communication systems.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Accubid, Procore, Planswift, or similar estimating platforms.
  • Knowledge of BICSI standards, NEC requirements, and low-voltage installation practices.
  • Experience estimating projects in healthcare, commercial, data center, education, hospitality, or mixed-use environments.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scope requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for low-voltage systems.
  • Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor cost estimates.
  • Prepare complete project budgets and bid proposals.
  • Evaluate project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Analyze addenda and incorporate revisions into bid submissions.
  • Maintain current pricing databases for labor, materials, and subcontracted work.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Coordinate bid packages and proposal submissions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope review meetings as required.
  • Clarify project requirements with general contractors, owners, architects, and engineers.
  • Prepare bid recap sheets and management review documents.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings with operations and project management teams.
  • Assist with contract reviews and scope validation.
  • Support change order pricing and project cost analysis during construction.
  • Monitor market conditions, labor trends, and material pricing.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
  • Stay current on emerging low-voltage technologies and industry best practices.
